Tioga County REAP LDC secured a grant from USDA Rural Development in late Fall 2010 to embark on its latest Sustainable Tioga training program. Designed to help Tioga County communities work together and with regional counterparts to pursue community and economic development goals, Sustainable Tioga 2011 will utilize the Stronger Economies Together (SET) curriculum to provide participants with knowledge, skills, and resources to pursue regional economic development. The program will feature monthly classes, an online discussion forum, specialized data analysis, technical assistance, and the practice of regional economic development skills.
Special emphasis will be placed on exploring the feasibility of developing a bioenergy cluster in Tioga County and the greater Southern Tier. The program will explore the potential for using our abundant natural resources to create a vibrant and sustainable regional economy. Community and economic developers, elected officials, planning board members, land and business owners, financiers and anyone else with a serious interest in exploring regional economic development opportunities in Tioga County and our surrounds are encouraged to participate.
